After more than 30 years in public safety, Robert retired as Assistant Chief of Police of the La Crosse, WI, Police Department. During his time in policing, he: 

  • investigated and supervised hundreds of employee matters from minor complaints to high level confidential internal investigations resulting in criminal charges and terminations. 

  • conducted hundreds of background investigations.

  • commanded the Investigative Division and the Professional Standards Division.  Conducted, supervised and reviewed thousands of criminal cases from homicides to simple theft.   

  • held positions and certifications as a Use of Force instructor and investigated officer involved shooting incidents and other substantial use of force incidents.

  • the Certified Public Manager program through the University of Wisconsin-Madison
